"Component Priming" means better protection for longer life
We offer our shutters in their natural cedar state, component primed, or component primed and painted.
The choice of finish is yours, but we recommend that all shutters ordered be at least "component primed".
HeadHouse Square Custom Shutters is the only company willing to take the extra time and steps to "component prime" your shutters. We apply the primer to the ends of the component parts prior to assembly for increased coverage of those surfaces not seen once the shutter is assembled. This is especially important with the floating panels and louvered shutters, because the unprotected wood could become exposed to the elements as the shutter expands and contracts with the weather as it is supposed to do.
In addition, we use a special primer and paint combination that is only available to manufacturers…homeowners and even painting contractors can’t purchase it. The primer provides a tough, durable, moisture and mildew resistant system that delivers superior mar and blocking resistance.
It also reduces “tannin bleeding” of the shutter far beyond other primer/paint combinations.
Now... do the products we use to prime and paint the shutter cost us a little more? Yes, indeed. Does component priming slow us down a little bit? Absolutely. But the increased value of both is worth the extra time and attention so that we can say, with confidence and conviction, that our shutter is a quality product that is built to last.
